    Planetside 2 Sniper Rifles

Hi y'all. I have one simple question that needs answering that will have effect of what gamestyle and what class will I choose. The question is: Will sniper rifle bullets kill in 1 shot to the head?

Never heard anything said about that, but I would assume only in certain situations. MAXs, of course, couldn't be killed that easily and pretty sure heavy assault's shield would keep them alive through a headshot even if their base armor didn't.

They said its possible to 1 shot kill everyone but max and probably Heavy Assault in the head but i think u need to get bolt-action certed purely for dmg.

If it isn't one shot to the head, I'll make sure the guy doesn't live. I'll have multiple bullets penetrate his / her head before they would ever see me so..

it would make sense that one to the head will kill 100% dmg on targets that are not a max or heavy assault using their shield ability, upper chest will do like 80-90% dmg, lower body 30-50%, limbs hands and feet 10-30% dmg. these percentages are just purely conjecture and also take into account the VS's dmg degredation over range. plus each character not only has their health but also an overshield like in halo so it will be interesting to see actual weapon dmg stats affected by what is basically a "second health bar" during and after the beta.

A few days back Higby was livestreaming some planetside 2 tech test footage on twitch (NDA? Smedley fury activate!) He was an infiltrator class and I witnessed him do a 1 hit kill headshot. I do think he has all the certs unlocked as his bullet drop at silly range was minimal, so that's maybe the reason why he had the power to do it. Nevertheless it may just mean playing abit first to cert up then all is golden.

Haven't heard about this. So because we don't have bulletdrop, it's balanced by losing damage over distance? TR and NC keep their damage but have to deal with bulletdrop?

correctomundo! the way they are making the play styles of the 3 factions different is this: TR guns are fast firing and have large clips, NC guns are slow but do the most dmg, VS is the median between fire rate and dmg so a fusion of TR and NC together. however, since TR and NC use slugs there will be bullet drop but there will not be any reduced dmg over range whereas the VS using their energy weapons do not have to worry about bullet drop but the power of the shots will be less the farther away your target is. (i'm not expert and correct me if i am wrong but this is all according to what i've heard from Higby, Clegg, TRay in videos and live streams.)

Fair enough. Makes me wonder how much the damage drops off. T'would be sad if my hopes of really long range sniping turn out to just be ineffective
