BF3 is just published by EA though isn't it? DICE makes BF3.
But Activision.. Don't get me started on them.. CoD is a fish! >:c

Yes, Dice made BF3, and I do like them (Mirror's Edge was amazing), but the publisher can push the developer to do some pretty horrific stuff. I don't know if anyone remembers this, but a while back Dice basically said straight out "we will always have our DLC be free. That will never change". A few years later, and it's like they're a different company.

That's more than likely because they are a different company. There was a lot of movement in the chain of command at EA during those years. I'm sure you could find some articles on gaming websites that talk about it.

EA has always been the bad kind of publisher. A good publisher drives and pushes the developer to make a good product. A bad publisher tries to tell the developer how to make a good game. I've heard so many interviews with developers where they have flat out said, "Please don't be mad at us. It's the publisher. We know these ideas are bad."
